Hi
Any ideas or recipes for getting in your protein after surgery and what are the stages? I think the first is clear, any ideas for that stage? I am really unsure of what to have in the house available after surgery, hopefully I can eat! I see the nutritionist tomorrow and I am sure she will give me a list of foods that will be easy to digest.

I'M DOING MY PREOP DIET NOW....CAN YOU ASK HER IF WE CAN HAVE SUGAR FREE JELLO?????

I was told only the 3 shakes + 2 cups veggies, or 2 shakes + bar+ 2 cups veggies.  Plus unlimited water and you can use flavored packets(less than 5 calories per )  I have found that the Neste Citrus tea is really good hot and cold.  In the morning I make it as Tea and at nite I blend it with ice to make a fake slurpee!!

For the vegetables I have been eatting brussel sprouts everynight!  I use a natural spice called Herbamare, it makes plain veggies taste incredible.  It is available in most health food stores.  We are allowed mushrooms too, so I will be preparing a huge potabella mushroom  on the bbq with the herbamare seasoning.  Vegetarians eat mushrooms as a meat replacement..... I am finding that my cravings are almost gone and I am starting my final week of the pre-op diet.  My only suggestion is to drink, drink, drink, it helps, beleive it or not.

On the weekend I had to go lay down for a nap, or I was going to eat the water left over from my kids hotdog lunch.  WEINER WATER SOUP?????   It helped to lay down and kill the 2-4pm snacking time.

Thanks so much for the tips...this is why we need each other. I'll definitely pick up some port. mushrooms and brussel sprouts. I had spagetti squash the other night and that was pretty good. I find I'm starving all the time though. And today was was running to the bathroom alot. I had a spinach "salad" for lunch...not very satisfying. It's definetly tough, but I know it's temporary. I'm actually looking forward to soup and scrambled eggs!!!

The spice is available in St. Vital Mall in the health food store.  It is called Herbamare.  I love it.

My husband said I smell like vitamins, I started the chewable ones on the first day of the pre=op diet.  Have you tried the Citrus tea by Nestle.  I heat it up and drink as a morning tea.  The blueberry pommegrante is very good too, with ice!!  I have a magic bullet and blend the shakes in there with ice.

I went for the admission appt at the Vic this week. that took around 3 hours to complete.  They only have two blood techs for the whole hospital and the blood clinic.  The trip to the Vic sure made be nervous and my BP was high.

Getting low on shakes, must mean that I am getting closer!!!

I've been doing the spaghetti squash with 'tomato sauce' on top and it has saved me at dinner time. I saute garlic and onions in non stick pan and add cut up tomatoes and water, with some sweet and low and a splash of vinegar with Mrs. Da****alian seasoning and believe it or not it cooks down into this amazing tomoato sauce!  I put it on cooked spaghetti squash and bake it and it is so filling, works great at night!! Feel like I'm having a meal:)
