What do you ladies think about starting a support group for Manitoba WLS's.  I am on Facebook and have one friend that is having the surgery too.  I meet her in the waiting room!!  Country Girl.  I am getting sleeved on Oct 19th at 10:30am.

Getting very scared about the surgery as it comes closer!!

Would really love to be part of a support group, having my surgery oct 25th. I'm not on facebook though. I started my preop diet yesterday, already struggling. Also started getting scared last night.

A support group is a great idea.  I had my surgary 18 months ago (lost 215lbs).  I belong to the Red Deer support group on facebook and they really helped thru some hard times.  Just having people to talk to is really important.  If you are going to start one, please let me know.  I also think that we should have a coffee group that meets once a month for support.

Sue,

It is the best decision I have ever made in my life.  Yes there are issues with food.  In the beginning you can only have liquids and slowly you graduate to mushy foods and then to solid foods.  I still can't eat white bread, greasy foods, really sweet stuff.  Some days I can eat a certain food and then the next day it bothers me.  You learn what foods work and what don't, but slowly, you system adjusts and you can add more and more foods to the menu and usually the foods that bother you are the foods you shouldn't have anyway.  If you want to talk before the surgery, email me at [email protected] and I will give you my phone #.  I am really busy this week-end, But if you want to meet I am open to that too.  I live in NK.   Good LUck!!!
