Where do I start?

Hello everyone.

After hours and hours of Google searches, contradictory information, and dead ends I have decided to solicit your help.

How can I find and contact surgeons performing gastric banding at public hospitals elsewhere in Canada.

I've read so many horror stories about waiting lists but they aren't going to get any shorter if I don't get on one of them.

If I had that extra $18,500 lying around I'd get it done here in Winnipeg as soon as I could, but unless my Lotto Max numbers come up Friday, that's not going to happen any time soon.

Any and all advice will be appreciated!

 Manitoba is now offering the bypass and the VSG for no cost to you if that is something you might consider.
I understand that the wait is only a mere 9 months and you get to stay close to home.

As someone who had to go out of province for the bypass procedure, I think this is wonderful news.

I was sure I had heard or read that bypass or VSG was available here, but when I was looking for information on it yesterday I couldn't find anything so I wasn't sure.

Now I just have to weigh the pros and cons of sleeve vs. band.

The cost is a pretty big pro though.
