This Damn criteria
Does anyone have any answers fo me? my referral was sent in to the clinic in mid sept. I called Julie to ensure it was recieved. Julie said it was recieved and im on ther waiting list to see one of the surgeons. she said it would probably be about six months as they are doing Feb. referrals now. Does this mean i have met the criteria, or will that be determined at the consult? Any info would be helpful, as this not knowing business is painful............thank you guys

Hi Hayley,
I know EXACTLY how you feel!! That was me a few months ago. I am a February referral(end of the month) and have my surgeon scheduled for November 2nd. I was wondering the same thing, scared to go to the meeting with the surgeon, wondering if I would say the wrong thing and they would deny me. But when the time came, the appointment was great, Dr. Andrews was very nice, very informative and very easy to talk to. He explained the surgeries, asked some questions, didn't grill me as to why I wanted the surgery or thought I needed it. Asked me which one I thought I would have, gave his opinion and that was pretty much it. I honestly don't believe that they would have you on the list for surgery if you weren't going to have it. They have already spelled out who they want and if your on the list, I believe your in! And that is my story and I'm sticking to it!!!! I totally know how you feel about the wait, it was driving me insane. But the day did come when I got the call to see the surgeon and yours will too!! I am going to be honest, my wait was a little longer than she originally guestimated but on the plus side, they will have more surgeons doing the surgery, and they had slowed down through the summer. You probably won't get your first consult until very near when your surgery will be. My first consult with the doctor was mid-September and I meet with the dietician on October 13 and then as long as everything goes good.....Nov. 2, yikes!!!! I hope this helps a bit and I know nothing will help with the wait!! Take care!

Hi, I too totally understand your feelings. I agree with country girl. It sounds like you meet the criteria if you're on the list for an appt. I was a January consult and i had my appt in Aug. and just found out my surgery is Oct 25. If you do not meet the criteria then they send you a letter stating that and you don't get a consult appt. Waiting for the appt is the long part then everything moves fast. Hang in there and keep in touch.
