Hello! I I was wondering if anyone could help me with some info? I have been to see Dr. Vergis I have been to the internal med dr. and I have my appt with the diet lady oct 13. when and where and how am I going to find out the date of my surgery? any info would be helpful. I am also getting very scared about this whole thing, any words of encouragement would be wonderful from those who have had the bypass done

Thank-you

Hi Bren,
I think you should be receiving a letter with your date. I phoned Julie to see if I could be put on a cancellation list because I wanted to get it over with and she said that they didn't have anything earlier than Nov. 2. I said Nov 2, I have a date? She said yes I should be receiving a letter and that I would find out more in when I met with the dietician. It might be different because we are having different surgeries. Did they say when a possible date could be? When did you see Dr. Vergis? I know it is scary and I wonder everyday if I am doing the right thing, I have chose the sleeve. The people on OH are great. You might try going to the bypass forum here, I know I go to the VSG forum alot and it has a ton of info and positive posts and only related to they type of surgery your having.

Good luck and maybe we'll see you at the dieticians!!

Unfortunately I can't answer any questions regarding the program in MB, as I had to go out of province for mine...BUT I can sure help you out with the encouragement as I'm just over a year post-op and so far so good!!

This has been by far the most brilliant thing I have ever done for myself.  It hasn't all been a bed of roses for sure, but when I think of where I was 2 years ago and compare it to where I am now???
Well there just is no comparing!!

I would encourage you to read my blog if you'd like an honest experience to read about.  And I'm always available to anyone who needs support either by OH e-mail, personal e-mail or even by phone.

I know I was scared witless when I was going through the 'process' and there were some fabulous people that I met on this website that got me through it.

So, please feel free to contact me

Good luck on your journey!!!!!

Thanks!  Keeping it real is the only way to not only survive this crazy journey, but to thrive on it!!

I am so excited that there is finally some dialogue going on in the MB Forum!!

And again, if anyone is wanting to meet in person for an 'informal' support group, please let me know and I will try my best to make it happen!

Hey Bren,
so happy to here i'm not the only one having bypass, everyone else seems to be getting the sleeve. I saw dr v also and met with the diet lady last week. then i got a phone call yesterday with a surgery date for oct 25. I'm super excited but also scared about the whole thing too. But I keep thinking about how much healthier I'll be and how much better i'll feel and that's what i focus on when i start to freak myself out. i would love to keep in touch with you and we could support each other thru this journey!!!
