I'm In !!!

I saw Dr Vergis who is working with Dr. andrews on Wednesday. He was super nice. Anyway, I met the criteria and will probably have  my surgery late Oct. Manitoba health covers the gastric bypass and the sleeve. I'm leaning towards the gastric bypass after talking with the doc. Dr Vergis will do either surgery, but Dr. Andrews is only trained to do the sleeve right now. I'm excited but nervous also. Will I be able to ever eat normal food again??? Would love to hear from people who've had the gastric bypass and let me know as much about it as possible. The one scary thing he said was that the death rate was 1 in 200!!!

Congrats, I have been waiting 3 years for my first consult and it will be 2012 till I get surgery.  Lucky you got in here in Winnipeg!!

hi there, how come your only option is out of province,is it because of criteria. i was referred by my md on wednesday, but i dont know what the criteria is. do you. sorry iam on my netbook, and have yet to read how to use the punctuation as it is different from my pc

My referral was sent in January and my appt was in Aug. so that's fairly long. I think my surgery will be late Oct.

hi there, could you tell me when you find out if you meet the criteria. do you find out at your appointment with the surgeon or do you get a letter afterwards. i am on the waiting list for a consult with one of the surgeons. i thought that if you did not meet the criteria, you did not get a consult. any info you can provide would be appreciated. thank you
