Half.of.Me
I had open RYN March 13, 2008, surgery that changed my life:
*pre surgery weight 286 lbs
*highest weight 318 lbs
*current weight 142 lbs
half.of.me gone
(see the picture in my profile)
I thank Bev for this inspiration, she had surgery around the same time as me in Ontario and has lost 172 lbs and is working on more, she took a pic of her painted toe nails & scale....
I like the MB forum and read it but I always read Ontario's forum, we can not compete with the numbers who had surgery and who post there... the folks there are chatty, open and honest!!!
Anyone considering surgery should be posting and reading other Canadian forums, ask questions, read, find out stuff.

Hello,
nice to hear from you, I am doing great, my weight has been stable for the last 3-4 months. I went to Grand Forks & Fargo on the weekend, soooooo nice to have clothing choices, probably spent a little too much there but it was fun to try on all kinds of clothing. I am still trying on a XL and L but probably should be buying a Medium but I like my clothing loose on me, my co-worker gives me heck all the time, loose clothing makes you look bigger apparently. I am still doing well but have more of an appetite and know that I need to take in more proteins. I am not eating any desserts, any bread, limited pasta (only spaghetti), I will be trying to keep away from all that as long as possible.
How are you doing?

Hello,
Thanks for the kind words. I understand there might be 1 surgeon in Wpg who might be doing some upcoming surgery, I noticed this on the Manitoba forum. Other than that, we here in Manitoba will get covered for an out of province consultation and surgery.and travel costs (just not covered for food or accomodations). You just have to get the family dr to submit first to Manitoba Health for approval, then they cover the costs.... a number of folks from here had surgery with Dr Nohr in Alberta and some had surgery in Ontario, a few with Dr Starr.
