on CBC Radio for WLS

Hi all,

Just wanted to say that CBC Radio (Manitoba) contacted me early in the week.  They saw my blog on this forum and asked if I would talk about my story.  I agreed...I said my own doctor really did not help me with my weight issue... at one point I weighed over 300 lbs.  I found Obesity Help and did the research on the surgery and after emailing/talking with people on this forum, asked for referral to Dr. Nohr (this was in 2004) and it too****il 2007 before I had a consultation appt with him, then 2008 before I had surgery.  People in MB need access to WLS, they need access to surgeons here in the province and access for follow up care.  Right guys!!!! I did my little piece to push for this over the radio.

I am a little embarrassed to have my before and after pictures on the CBC website but oh well I agreed....

On CBC Radio Manitoba website:  "Thursday on Information Radio Winnipegger Diane Gagnon shares her story of weight loss. Click on the link to see her transformation and hear why she says Manitoba needs better obesity treatment and services."

Thanks... I think it's crazy that we have to leave the province for surgery and wonder what to do if we have complications... I had to go back to Alberta to have a scope for a stricture...

If you get a support group going I would be interested in going, to share info and get support, we need it no matter where we are in our journey..

Woo Hoo!!

We need someone to really sit up and take notice. There is no publicly funded WLS surgery or aftercare support for those sent out of province.

Thank you Diane

Thanks Diane you are a real leader for the rest of us.  I wonder if Winnipeg Free Press needs to write something??? We need Manitoba to get on board. I wonder if Dr. Christouf from Quebec would ever come to winnipeg for a seminar on WLS?  We could use his support. What is Health Sciences take on WLS. I bet they could extend a WLS clinic.

Talk to you soon Stephanie
