Girl walks into a WLS Clinic and throws her MasterCard on the table.................and states. 
OK who in here is willing to give me a VSG.....I got the time and the money and the will to have it done!!  C'mon Big Fella.......who is willing....nudge nudge, wink wink.

Girl gets VSG....loses her weight..............lives happily ever after!!

OK.....so it is my fantasy....but hey....I am entitled.

Here is my deal, I am looking for some help in finding a surgeon to perform a VSG.  I am from Eastern Canada where the wait list for one is 5-7 YEARS.  Yea ok....not this girl.

So I am researching the sites, the other provinces, the internet as a whole and like a VSG junkie looking for the BIG FIX.

That is right people...I am surfing the net, and taking names. 

So who has some names.....some clinics...some prices......you know the drill.

Are you willing to travel to the US for your surgery? If so, then you shouldn't have a problem getting the surgery if you meet the requirements and especially if you are self pay. I can't imagine a 5-7 year waiting list. That is crazy! I use Dr. Manuel Castro in Dallas, TX. My surgery is scheduled for Monday, Feb 9th!

One would think that yes.

The prices depending on where you look are like $8000. in the difference.

Therefore I am here looking for people with actual Dr's they have dealt with or paid for.

That way I can be assured I am getting the really best Dr I can afford, not the Dr who could afford to pay the best web designer!!

I agree that you don't want to go to the doctor with the best web design. I have actually had a lapband back in 2005 with a horrible doctor. He talked a good talk, but when I actually became a patient, I learned that he was actually just a money hungry jack-ass!  I have since moved to Texas. I am a nurse and work at a hospital. I know so many people that are using the doctor that I have chosen now. I am really impressed with him. He is so supportive and weight loss surgery is very personal to him. His own wife had surgery a few years ago and also he has performed the procedure on most of his staff. They are incrediby supportive and caring. Check these 2 sites out. I know he offers the gastric sleeve for like $11,990. I don't know how much the RNY is. What procedure do you want?

I am very pleased with everything there.

I want the VSG. 

Remember I have to convert my good ole Canadian Loonie into Yankee dollars.  And that price is kinda high, to what else I have been quoted.  Plus I have to factor in Air Fare as well. 

But.....if I find the right surgeon, I would do it all in a heartbeat.

Check out  www.drjoya.com   I know he does them but he is in Mexico and you would have to self pay.  Dr joya did my RNY and i have nothing but good to say about him and his team.   Oh and i would rather be in that mexican hospital then any one here in Canada. Care is better and its much cleaner!!

hi......i really empathize with you.......i realize that there aren't any bariatric doctors in eastern Canada and that must be fustrating.........i live in northwestern ontario, on the border with minnesota and in the process of going for wls at u of m in minneapolis and i has been a long journey thus far......i'm still waiting for approval from OHIP to have it done.  if you check out the ontario forum, you'll find that many of the southern ontario folks go to new york for surgery......which may be the closet distance to you......or maybe maine......check out their forum....you may find a surgeon there......don't give up......if you're willing to do the research, the resources are here on OH.......good luck to you.......i hope you are successful in your quest.......Daphne

I booked with Dr Alvarez, in Mexico, for a VSG on 6 April.

I am completely disheartened by my health care system.  It is just gross !!

So when I make my payments each month for my self pay......I am going to remember how much the system sucks and how lucky I was to be able to do this on my own.
