Anyone from MB been approved?

For out of COUNTRY WLS?  I am looking at DS out of country and wondering if anyone else had any success with approval from Manitoba Health.

I was told that No it wouldn't be covered. The reason is because it is available outside of Quebec but still in Canada.

Where else is it available in Canada besides Quebec?  It is my understanding that it was only Quebec, although I could be wrong. 

They will not approve you for out of country.. You have to pay for it yourself.  They will approve you for the RNY though. BUt then it has to be done in Alberta or Vancouver.  THey pay for it there.

When or why were you told that it was only allowed to be performed in Alberta or Bc? I know a few from MB that have had surgery in other provinces. Ontario is one for sure and New Brunswick is another.  

Sorry i guess i should have clarified that a bit better.  Manitoba will send you to any other province in Canada. But they will not pay for anything that is out of the country. Unless they have changed in the last year.  And as far as i know they only offer the RNY. But that could have changed to by now.   

Hi I am new this site.  I am in the process of setting up a date to have the lap band here in winnipeg.
what is RNY?
if you go another province and Manitoba Health pays how long to you have to wait to get in?
I would like to talk to someone who has the surgery here and to find how it went and how they are doing.
