I have a Date for RNY Surgery

I am having RNY surgery with Dr Rusnak in Victoria

from start to fini**** took less than a year....
My journey took from only 3 months!! that is just crazy
Aug /08 referral got sent
end of Sept /08 first meeting
end of Nov/08 for pre-op
beginning of Jan/09 surgery date
Mb covers the travel fare  and surgery .... the hotel  stays are not covered though
if anyone needs any help just contact me I'll do my best

Hi Cherri,
That is great that you have a date for surgery and that the process took less than a year.   That is also good news for others.  I am from Wpg and had to wait several for a consult appt then a year after for surgery with Dr. Nohr in Alberta.  I am so happy with the results from my RNY surgery, it has been 7.5 months and I have lost just over 100 lbs..... no regrests

the only thing that worries me now is if i have problems I'm not sure who to see at home
when there isn't a bariatic dr here in winnipeg *sigh*

Hi there


Just wondering, wont Dr. Rusnak see you after surgery should you need to see him?  I am going through the process with Dr. Starr in TO and he told me any signs of trouble after surgery, i can be medivaced back to to to be seen, if necessary. 

Hi Louise - I am just at the very beginning of this journey and no nothing. I am also from Wpg. Did you pay for your surgery, your insurance or was it covered by Mb Health. I am recently seperated and can't really afford it, but I really need it. What advice can you or anyone give me. I don't even know where to begin. Appreciate any help.

Yes he will see me....... in fact I was given his  personal cell phone number incase I need but he'll send all the  reports to the doctors here and if i have trouble  we can  take it from there :)

Hi there....

  I am from Manitoba to.. I live just 20 min south of Winnipeg.   I had my RNY in Mexico almost a year ago.  I never had any troubles but the local Dr here in our rural hospital takes care of everything for me..  He runs my blood every 3 months. And if there is anythng i need and he dont know the answer he just makes calls till he finds the answer.  I have had no trouble getting a dr to look after me. But then again the only thing i have been to the Dr for since surgery is a never ending bladder infection which they finallyn took care of with shots instead of pills.  
   I have been very happy with my RNY.  I have lost 215 lbs in a year!!!    Wouldnt trade it for the world!!!!!!!

It's great top know my family Dr.should have no trouble (crosses fingers)
I know it won't be easy, it'a a total lifestyle change
I pray I don't feel the hunger...head hunger that is lol
