Waiting for appointment
Hi
I would post your question also on the Ontario forum, you will get responses from the people there. I had RYN surgery in March 2008 (Dr. Nohr) and from this forum has been talking to a woman who had surgery just the month before me, she had lap RYN with Dr. Starr, she was very satisfied with him....
Sometimes it takes us Manitobans a while to answer..... you can email me at [email protected] if you want....

hi there
I started this whole process in March 2008. I saw Dr. Starr in May of 2008. Went for my social worker dieticien consult in August 2008 and am now going for my feeding class and internal medicine consult on October 9 and 10, which is next week, lol. According to Tracy from Dr. Starrs office, approx. 2-3 weeks after my upcoming appointment with the internist i will receive an appointment so be seen at the pre screening clinic to be seen by an anesthesiologist and see Dr. Starr at the same time. Hopefully everything will be ok and i will be cleared for surgery. I do know that after your pre admission assessment you have to have your surgery within 3 months so that nothing new comes up. I expect to have surgery around Christmas time. And just so you know, although manitoba health states they will only pay for 3 flights being initial consultation, surgery and one post-op if required, I have appealed their decision and have won my case with the manitoba healthy living appeal board. So now i will get reimbursed for my flight to Toronto that i had in August and they will also reimburse me for my upcoming flight in October 2008. I most likely will have to appeal the final appointment before my surgery. But considering i have won this round, it seems only reasonable that they will support my next flight fare as well. Hope this helps and good luck.

I know this post is a little old but nutmeggie - have you heard anything from Dr. Starr's office yet? Just wondering what your status is with that.
