Surgeons out West

Hello Everyone, Could any recommend or tell me about surgeons in the West, I know there are lots in Ontario. Thank you.

Hey Connie, My name is Amy and I am also from Winnipeg. To be quite honest if you want to have your surgery done faster I would go to Ontario to have it done as the wait times are much shorter than out west. Dr. Starr was previously mentioned in a post and he is my surgeon. I have met with him a few times and he seems to be a REALLY great guy. I started the whole process in Nov. (First spoke with my Dr. in Aug. but he was unsure how to do things and I finally got tired of waiting and got on here and got info. on how things worked). My papers were sent out to MBH beginning of Nov. and I had an appt. w/Dr. Starr at Christmas. My surgery is scheduled for Aug. 11th, so from start to fini**** was less than a year for everything. Hi Connie, Mb health lists Dr Brad Amson as an approved wls Dr his website www.victoriabariatricsurgery.com I hear he is really good I don't know what his wait times if its like other Dr's out west I contacted it could be a min. 4+yrs to consult then a wait for surgery date! My health can't wait that long! I must go east to Dr Starr. He's on Mb health list too!I have a copy of the Mb health list of Dr's. If you can selfpay lapband is done at maples surgical center. Hi I called Dr Amson's again aparently there's a new Dr with a much shorter wait Dr tang all consult/surgery could possibly done within 2yr

I did some research myself and found that for dr tang and amson the critria is more intense than before.... you have to have pulmanryfunction tests ,sleep tests,dietians,blood work, ekg,speromitry tests chest xrays and a head shrink before they consider even takeing patients on... as for the wait list its longer than they say ,as of march/2008 vitoria clinics are trying to get more finacial resourses so it's to their best interest to have more ppl on the list...and with all these ppl waiting,the clinic PROMISES a short time so more can join....politics politics.....sigh I found the east do seem to deliver what they preach..... take care
