Hi everybody, I'm new to this site and board. I have recently heard that the lap band surgery is available in winnipeg at the Maples Surgical Centre. Is there anybody out there that has had the surgery there? I would really like to have the surgery done so close to home but I would like to hear feedback from others first as to how the experience went. Please let me know! Thanks! Karen

Hi. I had lap band surgery at Maples in June 2008. It took me about 3 weeks before I oculd go back to work (longer than I had expected). I was told that the surgery went perfectly. I've lost 52 pound since this whole process began. I should have lost more, but I've fallen off the wagon.

As for Maples, the post care is excellent, the people are great. It's expensive, but I figured if it makes me live longer, it's worth it. I would highly recommend Maples as the place to have your surgery.

I going for surgery on tuesday I am 3 weeks on the shakes and lost 12 lbs, i already feel great.
I hope I do not fall off the wagon, that is why I am asking why you did and what signs did you have that you were going off.

Have a nice day

Didn't fall far. I'm still at about 48 lbs lost.  The reason was emotional. When I'm unhappy, I eat all the wrong things. Just follow the diet plan you're given and you'll be fine. Good luck with the surgery. It is definitely worth it! Let me know how you're doing.

Thank you for your reply, I am just getting a little nervous. You read so much that you do not know what to expect. Some people say there is a lot of pain, some say they went back to eating. One person said 3 weeks off work was not enough, I am only hoping to be able to go back to work on the 6th day after surgery, I work at a desk, I just know myself and I can not stay home for too long. I know this is a life changing thing I am about to do but I so interesting in in how other people managed through it and some times hearing what people have gone through I will notice right away and know that somene else went through it. Just these 3 weeks has been great.  I feel good, and all I have been on is the Medi trim and veg. I was to have my surgery last week, but an emergency came up for doctor so it got scheduled for this coming week, I sure was upset that meant other week of Medi trim and vegetables but I have done it only have this weekend so I know I will make it.

again thank you
