Dr Brad Amson
Has anyone from Manitoba had surgery by this doctor? I have a consult with him in Aug 2008 and from what I have been reading a person has to go to a few appointments before the surgery is done. I was just wondering if, when your doctor is a few provinces away, do we still have to have all these in-person appointments or can they be relayed through your family doctor? Any info on this would be helpful.
Hi Christine,
Dr. Amson has his own website and message board that is over 600 members strong. It is victoriabariatricsurgery.com.
I believe he needs his patients to get the tests done in Victoria, BC so they have access to the hospital there when it comes time to do the WLS. The wait is very long but well worth it. I suggest you post on there.
I live in Vancouver, BC now but Winnipeg was my home from 1966-1991.

I live just east of Wpg and saw Dr. Amson in May 2005 for a revision. (I had VBG in 1992) After seeing him he told me that I was now on the wait list and can expect a call in two yrs for surgery.
(After a recent call I placed to them, I am now waiting for them to get back to me so we can get the ball rolling). He told me at that time that all test can be done by my GP here in Manitoba. So lets hope that's still the case.
