who are you seeing in TO, i was referred to Dr. Starr in march of this year and saw him in May of this year.  Already had my social worker dietician consult done and am returning to TO next week for my feeding class and Internal medicine consult.  I guess it depends on who you are seeing.  I also think the word is out about Dr. Starr and the fabulous work he is doing so that could affect the whole waiting process as well.  Hope this helps.  Good Luck

I know someone who is participating in a gastric bypass study that she said is covered under Manitoba Health out of the Victoria hospital.  Does anyone know what this study is called or how to become a part of it?

i have been apart of the program for over 2 years.i had posted the requirements to getting aproval.you need to contact the bariatric clinic at the vic.there is no receptionist right now so it might be a while until they contact you.here is the phone number for the clinic

I would be a witness. I have been denied so many times. All I want is some kind of quality of life. The health care system in Manitoba does not understand that waiting for an obese person is like a ticking time bomb. I was told by someone at Manitoba Health that obesity is caused by our own doing, that's why it's not covered. But Manitoba Health covers drug and alcohol addiction. Now that makes sense.

I am looking for witnesses for a human rights in complaint in manitoba, my basis of the complaint is that the health care system in manitoba discriminates against obese people as the wait times are not acceptable and the human suffering should be stopped it would have taken me 20 years to get a lap band in edmonton, also the gastric bypass is to invasive and has many more medical issues, so if you or any  one you know that is from manitoba and is willing to be a witness and give a statement send me a email to  [email protected]
