lapband in Winnipeg

Has anyone yet had the lapband surgery being done by the Maples Surgical Centre? I just heard abouit it from a friend and checked out the website: http://www.nationalsurgery.com/Maples/index.php

I was talking to them yesterday as have been on their list since late summer. It sounds like they will be starting to do the procedure early in the new year. I am to have my first (only?? don't know --) consult in the next few weeks.

HI Maggie, I am tentatively schuled to have Lap Band at Maples Surgical Centre January 12, 2008. It is a private, for-profit facility, good reputation. The 2 surgeons are Dr. Chris Andrew and Dr. John Bracken. They are being trained to do Lap Band by Dr. Christou from Montreal. Cost is (brace yourself) $18,500 (including GST). This covers pre-op consult, surgery and Lap Band, dietician, 2 weeks of Opti-fast, all follow-up and fills for 1 year. Facilty is really nice, all the staff are helpfull. Call and ask for Jennifer.
