when shouls someone apply for travel costs and how long waiting lis

hello my name is rebecca i was waiting now for 3 yrs from a doctoe in winnipeg and just found out that he no longer dose this now i have to waite agan for dr nohor in alberta i live in manitoba. has anyone had him for a surgen yet i used to wighe 418 lbs but know i seam stuck at 265 so i was hoping for lap.any info would be grat thanx

You should ank for a referal from your primary doctor right away at the same time the doctor can send the letter to manitoba health asking for the permission for the referal. Doc. Nohr's waiting period from referal till consult, for me was 16 months, by now it is probably longer. The period from the consult till the surgery was 14 months, This period now is probably longer, but it you have the ability to travel on short notice you could ask to be put on the cancelation list, to be called if someone cancels and you might get in sooner. I do not believe that Dc. Nohr does the procedure laprascopically, my procedure was done open, and the lap was not an option, you can find out nore by calling the doctors office in Medicine hat As for the traveling costs the cost of travel is only reimbursed sfter the trip is taken.
