Its not impossible

Hello, i just wanted to put my two cents in and tell anyone that is interested in hearing that it is not impossible to lose the weight on your own. 3 years ago when i stopped driving long haul i was tipping the scales at 500 lbs and wearing a 50 waist and 6XL shirts. Now i am down to 280 lbs and wearing 40 waist and XL shirts and i did it all on my own. I noticed a drop of about 30 lbs when i went from long haul trucking to short haul. After that i noticed another 30 lb loss in the first month after i cut back on carbohydrates. I stopped eating chocolate and drinking soda pop. After those first 60 lbs i got enrolled in a gym, Shapes on Nairn in Winnipeg, Mb. I got hooked up with a trainer and started working with him. With Craig's encouragement i started a training regimen that made me what i am today. I did one hour of weights and then i did my cardio workout. As far as i know, cardio exercise is the only thing that gets rid of fat. I was on the treadmill for a ½ hour at 50% incline each of the three days a week i was going at first. After a couple of weeks i was on the treadmill for an hour and increased the incline to maximum eventually. I know it sounds impossible when you set a lofty goal, but it's not really. My original starting off goal was to lose 100 lbs in a year. A friend gave me a pc program that figured out how much i would need to lose on a weekly basis to make that goal. If you figure it out it is really a low number. Some advice for those that are trying. Don't worry about what others think of you, i was worried at first about being in a gym and what all the fit people would think of me when i was clinically obese. They are all very supportive, and if you stick with it, you find out how really supportive they are. Don't get frustrated if you hit a plateau, everyone does, you just have to keep working at it to get over the bumps. Switch it up a bit and try different exercises. The first plateau i hit, i started using a rowing machine and that helped get over it. Everyone had it wrong, the hard part isn't keeping it off, the hard part was starting, but once you start and get there, the easy part is keeping it off. But its still easy to put it back on, so watch out. Well good luck to anyone that reads this. Kevin Hutchinson 30 lbs away from being half the man i used to be!

It may not be impossible, but I'm sure that's the first time you've REALLY dieted. I have been on about 30 diets in my lifetime and messed up my system. Not to mention food addictions and co-morbid conditions that make it nearly impossible in the long haul - I lost 100 pounds on Herbal Magic in 2002, and was still 100 pounds from goal when I stalled for nearly a year. After being on every diet under the sun, my body was so strained it could not lose anymore. Depression over my inabiluity to lose, self-blame and my underlying addictions caused me to gain it all back. And, another thing you have going for you is your male motabolism. Men lose faster than women, and usually don't obsess about their weight at a young age causing them to diet and f-up their motabolism early in life. I am happy that you have managed this, and all the best to you - but please keep the above factors in mind, and do not judge the people who have no more alternatives left.

Well just so you know, i have always battled with my weight problem. In fact the last time i had the waist i do now is when i graduated from high school and that was 17 years ago. I have tried all sorts of diets and different exercises, it wasn't until i brought the two together... proper diet and proper exercise that i found results that lasted. My weight has bounced around by approx 50-100 lbs in my life annually until i started this. I am happy and proud of what i have done because it is such a "real" accomplishment.

I drive for Bison long haul. And im in the same situation. 6'2 460. Most execersize i get is walking into a truckstop. very tired of being like this. Congrats on your loss, i want that too. This job kinda sucks, but its hard to find something else where you can make this kind of money with only highschool. I dont know if i could handle local right now, my BP tires me out winding up legs on trailers, need to get my indurance back up. Theres a guy on satelite radio, bubba, he lost over 200, but he had hulk hogan to help him with motivation. A trainer helps with that right? I get alot of people telling me what i should do, but they dont help, always sounds like they're nagging me. I'll go down to shapes, hope they got a treadmill that i wont break, i did break a stepper at bison once. Im 31, a trainer, and watching all the girls there will give me the motivation i need. i think there 7/24 also, which is a plus.
