Topic: My first NSV!!!
So today at work I had to go upstairs... 2 flights! In the past I'd walk slowly up the stairs pretending I was reading something along the way so I didn't keil over when I reached the summit! Then I'd walk into the ladies room and hide in a stall until I could catch my breath.
Well today I walked to the top of the stairs and to the other side of the building before I realized I didn't stop along the way and I wasn't even winded or out of breath!!!
As if that wasn't enough...
Tonight we had to turn the box spring and mattress in our bedroom... my dh says "hey what's in that shopping bag" it was a pair of work pants w/the tags on - I had scored them for $6.25 and I bought them becuase I knew I'd fit into them once I started losing weight.
They are a size 28 (they run small so probably a 26) --- I wear an 18/20 today!!!!!

Good for you !!! Im so happy for you! Its been forever since I've been on here and forever since I've talked to you. I have lost 110 today and 25 more to go. Its slow, really slow now and frustrating. also harder now that I can finally tolerate all foods. I need to be sure I stay away from the bad ones.

First of all, awesome job in the weight loss! Even in the first few weeks post op that is still good.
Stalls are normal. I am currently just over 9 months out and I have stalls all the time. Usually I find that if I concentrate on protein (which I do not get enough in) and I exercise that it helps get over the stalls. Even at that I may lose 2-3 lbs and then stall again for a few weeks.
I did find that in the beginning that if I did not get "enough" calories in that my body would store it as opposed to burning it. You need to find your "sweet spot" as I call it to see where you stall and where you burn and stay at those calories. Once my doc approved me for exercise and I was up to it I started doing Zumba again. I credit that hour workout with my slimming wardrobe now. The surgery is a tool but we have to know how to use it.
Be sure to get your fluids in too.
Best of luck with your continued loss, you'll be dropping more pounds before you know it.

You may have to ask Lisa, Lynn or Kate for an invite into the group as I am not sure how to invite someone.

Down about 96 lbs in this photo. Current loss as of today is 98.5 (so close to the 100 lb loss I can touch it). I am approximately 27 lbs from my personal goal. Thanks everyone for your support!

Dear Lady,
Congratulations on starting your journey! I had RnY in 10/2008 and was taking and continue to take Lexapro and cytomel[liothyronine, which has been found to augment the effect of the SSRI med in some people who have only partial response in symptom alleviation]. Never had any comments from my surgeon. Had procedure at Faulkner Hospital's Center for Bariatric Excellence. They have a good program. So does Brigham and Women's. I agree that you should get a second opinion.
I had type 2 diabetes, and my diabetes endocrinologist was the one who told me that the Roux en Y was the better procedure for me, which is why I went that way. It is true that malabsorption can occur, and for me that may be causing me to have low Vitamin D, so I have to take more than the usual amount to get enough. Everyone is different, though, so you and your health care providers must evaluate your individual status.
Good luck!
