Good Evening Everyone!

I am new to this forum. I'm pretty sad to see that the Massachusetts forum isn't used as much. I live about 15-20 minutes outside of Boston and I work in the medical area of Boston. I have been looking into weight loss surgery for the longest time. (I am 22, and about 300 pounds.) I have tried, what feels like every diet and weight loss remedy that exist. I have tried clean eating with exercise added. I have tried diet pills. :/ I have tried slim fast shakes, herbalife shakes, protein shakes, veggie smoothies. If you think it, I have probably tried it. I don't come from the greatest family. (Just me and my father. I'm more the parent and take on most of the stress, which doesn't help with weightloss.) I have always been over 200 pounds for as long as I can remember....since I was about 12 years old. I have considered weight loss surgery and looked into it but I told myself I could do it with regular diet and exercise. Without getting too into everything, whatever I lost, I gained back plus an extra 10 pounds. Anyway, I am mainly here for support from anyone who would like to give me support. Also, any and all advice is appreciated. :)

Hi,

I live in Carlisle, so we are really nearby.  I had my surgery at Lahey in Burlington.  Where did you have your surgery? How did it go?  I hope you are well.

(I should look at this forum more often!)

I didn't realize you were, either.  Where did you have your surgery?

My revision to a RNY will be done at St. E's in Brighton Dec. 14th. Just wondering if anyone has had there surgery there. Are the rooms private? In general what was your experience. What did you bring...or wish you had brought. Anything unexpected happen. I'm just alittle anxious and excited. How is your progress? Ok, I'll stop now

Congrats! My revision is the best thing I've ever done for myself. Ask your surgeon if he/she can recommend any support groups on the Cape. I love OH but nothing beats in person support!

If you are ever able to come to our Mount Auburn group, we meet Wednesday's at 6pm in Waltham. No meeting this week due to the holiday, though.

I live on the Cape but will have my revision surgery (lap band to RNY) done at  St. E's. I had my band done in 2008 and have had problems with reflux, aspiration pneumonia and thrush in my esophagus for the past 2 years. My surgical date is Dec. 14th 2015. Very excited for this second chance. I don't know of any support groups in the mid cape area, but I do  find reading everyone's posts very informative, encouraging, inspiring and motivational. I look forward to what lies ahead!!

Thanks for your reply. They actually had me see the dietitian more than necessary by his words he didn't have to see me again. From their own errors in schedule they had me take a few too many tests. The dietitian also said he didn't want to charge the insurance the full amount for the visit because it was not needed. Then I tried to schedule my surgery and they kept telling me I had to complete my requirements but there were no more required appointments . I guess things happen for reasons I originally thought I would have been done by the end of September and now scheduled for dec 18th

It's not clear from your post if insurance company requirements slowed you down, or the surgeon's office -- or even if it was slow.

There are lots of tests before any surgery. As time goes on, they add more. Mostly, this is for your safety. I actually delayed my surgery for a couple of months so I could really be prepared.

Fast is not always good.
