Topic: RE: Intense Pain in Left Shoulder 2 days Post Op
Yeah, it is common after surgery. I was gonna say to try to maybe walk around and take pain meds if needed. Since the pain is so intense and is not going away I would call the hospital and speak to the on-call bariatric surgeon. I hope you feel better soon !!

What helped me was starting to get used to my post-op diet while I was still pre-op. Get in plenty of protein and water while sticking to low sugar and low fat contents. That helped me alot

Topic: Intense Pain in Left Shoulder 2 days Post Op

I had the surgery 9/14 and by 2 days later I fell asleep around 10 pm and when I got woken up at midnight for my stats I complained about severe left shoulder pain.  The nurse was not sure why she thought it was the way I slept.

I have read on the message boards that it is common but I can't take this pain.  I have been using Gas X strips as directed on the box and taking the pain med every 3 hours as recommended and nothing is working.  I do get up every hour and walk around the apartment for at least 10 mins or so and I have been out of the house twice today doing plenty of walking.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  I find the pain in my left shoulder to be more than the incisional pain.

HELP !!!

Totally normal!  I think I stalled out for almost two weeks...I was SO frustrated.  Just make sure you're getting in as much protein and fluids as you can, and make sure you're walking every day and it'll work itself off.  :)
