Yay! Glad to hear all is going well .. when I saw my psych and told him I was getting very weak he also told me to get in more sodium. It actually helped! Try the Powerade Zero - tastes great and has no calories! G2 has calories ... I still drink it sometimes but would prefer the Powerade Zero b/c of 0

I live about 15-20 minutes away from the Faunce Corner Nutrition store and I found them by accident one day when going to the VF Factory Outlet store just up the street from them. I also found them to be helpful. When I wanted to choose the multivitamin I asked if they had any samples before I made the purchase and the salesperson was nice enough to go in the back and bring out a sample of the ones I asked about. You can also inquire at the register for free samples of whatever they have by the register.

I met with the surgeon today and was told I need to not only up my fluid intake but I also need to make sure I get in gatorade G2, powerade, propel or something similar that has sodium in it. He said that the problems I am having feeling weak, lightheaded, heart racing, feeling clamy some times is due to my blood pressure dropping and I need the electrolytes, etc. I am not a Gatorade drinker by nature but you gotta do what you gotta do!
The nutritionist said that my limited food intake is normal especially given that there were several procedures done at once. I had to have scar tissue removed, the old hernia repair taken down, a new hernia repair done, repair to bottom of my esophagus and the RNY performed. I do need to up my protein (as well as the liquid issue stated above). She gave me a sample of the unflavored Unjury to try so I will see how that goes.
Thank goodness, approximately 2 more weeks and I can add in veggies (if tolerated). I am easily getting bored eating the same foods over and over. Then again, it beats an all liquid diet!

Sounds pretty normal to me!
I got reprimanded at my 4 week visit for not eating enough. You just have to keep trying, and eventually it will get easier. You will make your way up to the 64 oz of water and 80 grams of protein, it's just something you work on til you get it. I now drink WAY more than 100 oz of liquid a day, so you will make it.
Your tastebuds will also change/improve. Your body is going through a lot right now, and you may even have a metallic taste in your mouth for a while. It WILL go away!
Keep up the good work!

Hi,
It has been three weeks and one day since my RNY. I have has a couple of minor complications cellulites infection in one of my incisions and I was hospitalized over night last weekend due to sever pain they did a cat scan and every thing came back normal thedoctor said that me taking milk of magnesia may have caused the pain once I moved my bowels I was much better. I am getting 50-60 grams of protein a day about 48 oz of fluid I can’t imagine getting 64oz a day plus 80 grams protein a day. I don’t care if I eat at all I do because I have to and it seems like my taste buds are gone nothing taste good or bad is this normal?
