Dr Partridge was my surgeon as well.  Apparently United Health Care dropped Brigham and Women's as a center of excellence and added NWH not too long ago, according to Denise. Dr Partridge said that they are able to have a better work environment without the pressure to publish at NWH vs at Boston hospitals.

Hi Liz!

I actually had my VSG with Sheila Partridge at Newton-Wellesley. They have won awards and are now #1 in the country, though I don't know the source of that citation. I'm visiting Dr. Partridge to be sure, but want to see 2 docs for opinions on revisions. I agree with you about N-W, just first rate.

I went to Newton Wellesley for surgery - the surgeons trained at Brigham and Women's.  It was SO much easier getting in and out of a suburban hospital and the quality of care is the same or better than Boston, IMO.

Hey guys, I'm originally from Rehoboth, MA (South-Eastern MA, very close to RI) and I had RYN with Dr. Pohl in East Providence, RI in February 2014. He was a wonderful doctor, no complaints! I moved to Japan less than 3 months after my surgery, though so I'm not sure if I count as a MA resident :p Part of my heart will always belong in the bay state!

He was at Tufts for a long time, but Brigham recruited him to run their program. He has credentials a mile long, and a ton of surgeries.

Being at Brigham for your MS makes sense having a revision there too. Having easy, instant access to all your records can help a lot.

I really need to Google before I post! I thought Dr. Shikora was at Tufts, maybe he used to be. But The Brigham is SUCH a great hospital. I have MS and am treated there. They are on the cutting edge. Thanks for  your post!

Go to Boston. Bigger hospitals, bigger programs, more surgeres, more experience. A revision is no small thing. Find the best. I recommend my surgeon very highly.

Whoever you choose, ask how many revisions they have performed.
