Unfortunately I won't be able to make it tonight.  No one scared me off...just driving my mom to the airport.  She's been staying with me during recovery.  Everything went well....just sore, tired, and sick of protein shakes.

Hope to see everyone at the next one!  Have fun tonight!

Hi Catherine,

I haven't had hamburger helper since way before surgery basically for that reason. It has alot of fat content and has always given me gas. Try some gas X chewables or strips, that should make you feel better! I would recommend staying away from the hamburger helper from now on.

keep in mind there are things you can do to alter the usual pasta and bread they tell you to avoid.  I am constantly baking and add protein powder to everything... from cookies to muffins to breads, and of course I substitute splenda for sugar, and applesauce for oil or shortening... and then its a good thing to have. There is also several brands that make a high protein pasta as well.... so you dont have to deprive yourself, just change to a healthier choice and enjoy.

You definately need to suppliment with a protein shake. There are so many options out there, if you need advice on that too, just ask we have tons of ideas... but really especially early on you need the protein shakes... it counts towards your liquid intake for the day and gives you a ton of protein all at the same time. Advice #1, buy protein powder from GNC.... because... once you try it, if you dont like it, and still have the reciept and its within 30 days of the purchase you can return it even though its opened and used. Thats their guarantee return policy, use it to your advantage.  You buy something you dont like, take it back, try something else.  Everyone has their preferences but you gotta find something you can tolerate.  Buying from GNC.com has more choices than the stores do and you can return to the store if you dont like what you get.

Hope this helps!!

How much protein are you getting in?  I am averaging approx 35-45 (with food alone) still not drinking protein drinks.
