Lisa, I have BCBS PPO (Blue Care Elect to be exact) and had RNY at Mass General Hospital this past October. I had no problems getting my RNY approved, nor did BCBS require any supervised diets in my case. The one snag I ran into is that my approval came through the day before I was scheduled for surgery. But that was due to a delay on the hospital's side of things, not BCBS. If you are interested in reviewing BCBS policy 'rules', as I was, you can get a copy on the internet (google BCBS of MA 2006 WLS guidelines) or call BCBS of MA and ask them to email you a copy. Best wishes, Lynn
