As a pre or post op are you familiar with the term the last supper? Did you feel the need to have one final large meal prior to surgery or maybe even a whole month worth of last suppers? Did you gather with family and friends and how did you feel about yourself after you binged? If this sounds like something you or someone you know participated in before surgery, please send me a short email telling me about your experience for an article in OH Magazine. Please send comments to [email protected].

I felt no need for a "last supper". In fact, I lost 10 lbs. prior to my surgery on April 19, 2005. I had given up soda a year before my surgery but I did have one can of root beer (my favorite soda) two days before my surgery. That's the only real indulgence I can remember along with a few tootsie rolls the day before my WLS. I did think a great deal about all the foods that I probably would never be able to eat again. Sometimes, I still do THINK about those foods. But, a 90+ pound weight loss in the last 6 months and my new size 12 body keeps me on the right track. I worry about the Christmas holidays - I love to cook and bake but I am determined to live my new lifestyle one day at a time..... Debbie Lancaster Boston, MA E-mail: [email protected]
