had my first appt today
well i went to medford to see DR randall today..first off i have to say they are very nice..i went to check in i was so nervous, nurse sent me down for my bloodwork,i came back and waited to be seen by the doctor, talk to a few post-ops very friendly people and told me i picked a great doctor..so that was some reassurance..well once in the room he asked me some stuff he weighed me and omfg i couldnt belive really how big i am..i was 30lbs bigger then i thought, but he says there is no reason why i wont get approved and thats great news to hear but he did say with my insurance being medicaid through welfare it could take 6 months to get approved and he also said that i wont benefit from the lap band so i think he said its open rny..i know there are so many terms,so basically he told me not to gain anymore, and quit smoking,so tomorow i have to schedule my nutrionist appts..call my family therapist and see if she can give me letter of recomendation once i get that letter then i would of done my home work lol...oh and i have to attend one meeting next month which is run by the doctor himself..so i guess i can say i am starting my journey i know there is so much ...but i go back to see him in a month so hopefully i will have that letter by then.....

Hi Cindy,
It is a long journey at least in my case. There are many classes and test that you have to endure but think of it this way "It is for your own good." I was getting frustrated with all the classes and test but found that you actually do learn and start doing things you never did before. Also, it is good because that way the doctor has checked every possible thing that may go wrong and can prevent many things from happening while in surgery or after. Good luck with everything. Jaxx
Hi Cindy, I can so relate to your message. I have gone through the whole process and I am waiting to be approved to see the surgeon. I had to quit smoking and I have gained 4lbs. in the process. They will not set me up with the Dr. til I lose at least 5lbs. It is very difficult to do both at the same time. I know it is for our own good but it is tough. I am seeing dr.s at umass Worcester. I noticed you were from Leominster. I live in Gardner. I wish you all the luck!!!!!!! Just keep thinking of how good we will feel after we are done.
