Surgeon for the Super obese

Hi all, Just went to a meeting for surgery in Mass and found out he does not do on people over 350. I am looking for others who have been 400+ and have had surgery done in RI/MA. Thanks Juli

Hi Juli, My husband was 425 when he had his surgery. He went to MGH Weight Center in Boston. They are on Staniford Street. 617-726-4400. Good luck with your journey. Julie

Dr.Kuhn does the super obese people at Baystate Medical Ctr. in Springfield.413-794-7020. They do RNY laprascopically. Paula

Juli--You need to be at a major medical hospital. In Boston-Boston Medical Center, Beth Israel, Brigham & Womans, NEMC, Mass General. I'm sure these hospitals can help you. For these WL surgeries 350 is not uncommon. Best to you. Joan F

It really depends on the hospital and the surgery you are having. I love the Brigham where I had my surgery but I know they don't do the lap band on patients with BMIs of 50+. I believe they do do the RNY though. Best of luck, Caeli 348/323/284/under 200

thank you so much everyone. It is actually for my hubby - he wants to do a rny pref lap and we don't know exactly how much he weighs 450ish?? Anyway, I have done some extensive searching and found Brigham and Women's may be the best if the doc in Taunton won't do it. Anyone know of anyone getting a lap rny done at that weight?

I know that Dr. Robinson at the Brighams will do over 450 a friend of mine just had it done a week after I had mine done back in January. I was very impressed with Dr. Robinson and his staff My friend has lost 70 pounds and feels great Good luck Keep us posted Hugs Loretta

Juli, Hi I am from New Bedford too! I had Dr Bruce Bodner at Morton Hospital in Taunton, I know he has done patients over 350, at least one of the women he did was 425+ she is doing well.
