Dr.'s experience with GBS on patient with previous hernia repair?
I am meeting with a bariatric surgeon next week and have an appointment at Weight Loss Center at MGH on April 20th. I am trying to find out if there is a way to research on how many times, if any, the surgeon has done a gastric bypass on patients with previous Nissen fundoplication. I am very scared about embarking on this because I know it makes me more prone to complications and it is an even riskier procedure to an alrady risky procedure. Of course, I will be asking the doctor how many times he has done this procedure on someone who previously had a Nissen, but if he hasnt, I dont know how to go about finding someone who has. Any suggestions?
Sally, during my research I had called around to the Boston Hospitals and asked them directly how many lap bands they had done. One hospital had a terrible phone system--I needed to call several times to get to a person after a 7 layer telephone system. I did get my answer there but decided not to use that hospital for if I had an emergency I wouldn't want to monkey around with the phone system.
Back to subject--I would just call around and ask.
Best of luck to you. Joan F.
