Is anyone interested in starting a support group in the metrowest area (Framingham/Natick)? My doctor has a group but it's in Boston. I would love to start something up closer to home.

Provided we don't serve cookies! I go to the Newton-Wellesley group, but an alternative could be a good idea. .

Is the Newton-Wellesley group open to anyone or only to people who have had surgery there? I wouldn't mind only having to go to Newton but would certainly be open to doing something closer to home as well.

Hey, neighbor! I think the group is "intended" for Newton-Wellesley patients only, but they can't possibly remember everybody, and nobody checks IDs at the door. It's not as if attending the meeting uses up their resources or anything, and anyone with something to contribute seems to be welcome. Tonight (Thursday, March 10) is the 0-6 month post-op group meeting there at 6:30 - if you get this in time, why not drop by? Directions (from their website): All meetings take place in the Allen Riddle Living Room on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Campus. Turn off of Route 16 at the traffic light leading into the hospital campus. Drive up the driveway with the parking garage on your right. Allen Riddle is on your left at the top of the hill. There is free evening parking available beyond the building.

Thanks for your e-mail. I got it too late to go tonight but I might try to go to the next one. Are they always the same time each month?

. Check out their website for the schedule: newtonwellesleywls.com/Content/ContentCT.asp?P=30 (add http:// in front to make the link work). The "Community Support" meetings (first Thursdays) tend to be large and diverse - it might be a good chance to check them out. The 0-6 month meetings (second Thursdays) tend to be smaller, but there's always good info available. Maybe we'll see you next month?
