I think I set my own. I went in with the goal of losing 100 pounds. That was what it would take to get me healthy again.

My surgeon calculated my ideal weight (I'm not sure how, ht/wt charts, bmi in normal range) and feels that WLS would allow me to successfully lose about 80% of that (about 90 lbs) however, I am only 5 months out and have already lost 70, so I think I may achieve better than 80% weight loss. I know I have never been able to maintain my weight as an adult (or any other time LOL!) at what my ideal weight would be. I think I would have to become an exercise nut to do that and I don't see that happening in the near future! Luann LapRNY 9/14/04 -70

My goal is to be under 200lbs. They say that you generally will lose 80% of the difference from your weight to goal. Mine was a total of 131 pounds from my highest wieght 347, I am now at 257 so 90 down(26 was pre-op). I am only 11 weeks out so I am hopeful I may lose more.
