Here I am..doing my happy dance!!!!!! I just got off the phone with my surgeon's office.... I HAVE INSURANCE APPROVAL ON THE FIRST TRY!!!! Life is soooooooo good today! I have a tentative surgery date of Tuesday, 3/8/05. The only reason it is tentative is because I have one more appointment on 2/9 with a pulmonoligist regarding the results of my sleep study. STUPID SLEEP STUDY!! I have been diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and they are going to tell me on 2/9 if I can go through with surgery and they will reassess after...or if it requires treatment first.... Cross your fingers with the surgery first/reassess after plan!!! I am so excited!!!!!! Pre-op testing and info review, etc scheduled for Friday 2/18!!!

Happy for you Bonnie. It is always very nice to know that the insurance approves your surgery. Good luck with the final test results. Hope it is a go for you, this surgery is wonderful. Had mine on 12/06, down 38 pounds and I am feeling so very good. Monica

Hi There Congrats on the approval. If the apnea is moderate you may be okay - I had the apnea too but I did not require a C-pap machine so they let me have the surgery first. 03/08 will be here before you know it!

I had moderate sleep apnea on my sleep study, got the cpap machine and it did not affect the decision for surgery. My surgeon simply made sure I was on a floor that could monitor me post-op while on the IV pain medication. It is my understanding that sleep apnea is a comorbidity that can be improved by this surgery, so why would they not do the surgery because of it? I think it is more of a factor in your post-op treatment than something that can prevent the surgery from being done. I gave back my cpap machine in November-2 months after surgery. Good luck!
