Dr. Bruce Bodner
Hi All,
A couple of questions: Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Bodner? How is he? And has anyone had medicare pay for the surgery fairly recently? Dr. Bodner's receptionist said medicare routinely denies claims, but Im wondering if that includes people with comorbid conditions. I have sleep apnea among other things and my pcp says I will probably live only another 10 years without the surgery.Thanks.
Karen
Hi Karen,
I have not had surgery yet, but I am also seeing Dr. Bodner. Maybe you should post the medicare question on the main message board there are alot more visitors to that board and some of them may have dealt with medicare. I have United Healthcare insurance and they specifically exclude WLS, so I will go in debt and be self-pay. I also would like to hear from some of Dr. bodner's post-op patients, to hear how things went for them. I am currently trying to loss 10% of my weight and have lost about 3% so far. I have seen the nutritionist and see the psych Doc after Christmas.

Hi Jan,
I am a patient of Dr. B. 18 mos post-op, 149 loss so far. My surgery went picture perfect as I was told and had some pain but nothing that I could not deal with. I did have an infection post op but Dr. B. was on top of it. If you go to his forum, you can read up on those of us who have updated our profiles.
Good luck with that 10%.

Hi Karen,
Dr Bodner is a very kind man and gives you alot of his time while you are in the hospital. I attend a support group every 4th tueday of the month at Morton. I am most certain we have folks there who were covered by Medicare under Dr. B. I will that question out to the members and see what they say.
Take care
MaryLyn
