Wine--when is it ok to have a glass?
Denise
Hi neighbor, I'm in Walpole.
You didn't say what kind of surgery you had and that makes a difference. If you have a bypass you need to be careful with alcohol because it will effect you more now than before surgery. Some people also claim that drinking while you are losing a lot of weight puts more strain on your liver.
If you have the Lap Band drinking in moderation is no problem after 6 weeks. In fact there is an Australian study that says one or two glasses of wine a day helps you lose.

Richard,
Thank you for your reply. I had bypass surgery in July. I was really looking forward to going out with some friends after work, having my first glass of wine and watching the Red Sox win. Unfortunately things didn't quite work out as planned....I did go out, met some friends, ordered an appetizer of chicken (I should have known better), and had 2 sips of wine. Within a few minutes I felt terrible, the chicken just didn't agree with me. So I ended up home, on the couch watching the game. Oh well, better luck next time ; )
