Any Lahey Burlington patients out there?
I have just called Lahey, Burlington to schedule my initial consult with the Obesity clinic. While I am waiting for them to call back I have been reading posts and such on the boards here. Under the surgeons, section I found info saying that Dr. Brams was called up to military duty a few months ago and another post saying Dr. Shah was leaving June 30th to go work in NY. I have read through the Lahey web site and there is no information on any possible new bariatric surgeons on board. Are there any Lahey patients on here who can give me info about what is going on? Are there any surgeons still at Lahey Burlington to perform surgeries or should I start looking elsewhere?
Well, my primary is S. Southard, at Lahey in Burlington, and I decided to go to a specialist: Dr Randall in Medford, MA. This surgery is all he has done for 20 years, thousands of patients, never a loss. I have co-workers who went to him, so I told Dr Southard no thanks to Lahey and went there.

Hi Bonnie--I had my surgery at Lahey over a year ago with Dr. Shah. Dr Brams returned from active duty a long time ago and is actively doing surgeries. I spoke with Karen, the PA or NP(can't remember which she is_ (chief honcho--lol) and she said they are looking for a replacement for Dr. Shah--although he is irreplacable in my book. This is an excellent program. They really have their act together and have great pre and post operative support. The response someone gave about someone choosing to go to a specialist kind of struck me funny because, while the surgeons at Lahey do perform other surgeries in addition to bariatric surgery, there is an all encompassing program there to support us after surgery. Far better, imho, than many of the "specialized" programs I read about here. Plus they do RNY and LAP-Band. Good luck to you in your journey. Lynda ME/FL
