My Tufts Update!
I met with Dr. Greenberg lastnight - left his office feeling so inspired!!!
Not that I was feeling bad before I got to his office since I'll I've heard was rave reviews.
When I got to his office he recognized me from the HOWL seminar two days before!!!
I really liked his "approach" professional yet not stuffy or uptight.
I got to meet Kelly and we made a few more appointments while I was at the office too yay me!
Walked outta there with a warm fuzzy feeling

I have yet to meet the infamous Louise... she had to leave early that day! figures!
I meet with Meghan as my Nutritionist and I need to visit with Dr.Snydman since my surgery is a revision.
Just curious if you were able to pick up and read one of the books as suggested??
I was gonna look them up but not much of a book-reader so Dr.Greenbrg. suggested WLS for Dummies as an "easier read" I'm gonna go to the bookstore this weekend and maybe pick one of the four.
The seminar is open to everyone - the Auditorium is really large.
HOWL= Healthy Weight and Optimal Wellness for Life (From 6-7PM)
You should read the info on Tufts site but basically it's an hour of pre/post op discussion - a quick intro then people volunteer to get up and talk about their experience and take questions - I found it to be helpful for sure getting first hand from someone that's already been down the road... towards the end of the hour, a surgeon talks about the program and after care and takes questions as well. This is the TUFATS support group that I'll continue to attend after surgery.
From 7-8PM is the "New Patient orientation" being new I stayed for this. Most of the post-ops leave and now you're in the audiotrium with pre-ops. The program is outlined and surgeon discusses the procedures (Lapband/RNY) and then takes questions... extra helpful!
At the end they distribute applications to take part in the program - you complete it and return to the office (if you decide to go forward) I did mine before I attended the seminar---
On July 23rd I completed the application (easy one pager) and got a call later that day scheduled my appointment for psychologist (Dr.Greenberg)August 18th so about 4weeks. I'm sure you know that making appointments can take a long time but I think because Tufts is so organized/structured it doesn't take months to get an appointment!
On 8/13 I called to confirm my appointment for the 18th and asked if I could schedule any future appointments and she said we're currently booking Immersonion day on October 5th - so I've reserved a spot there!
On 8/18 after meeting with Dr.G that's when I got more appointments for September 23 a physician appointment(not required for everyone-but I'm having a revision from previous lap band surgery) and nutrutionist required by insurance- back to back appointments so I don't have to keep taking time off of work.
I think it's all about being pro-active and book as much as you can in advance the waiting game stinks!. The welcome packet comes with a letter you send to your primary care physician and get all ur referrals (if you need referrals)
I was working with Brigham&Womens(where I got my lapband in 07) On July 14th, I called to get an appointment to meet with the surgeron that would do my revision ... the woman was very nice but said... "Ok we're booking for January 2011" my heart sank... 6months??? REALLY!!!??!
