Screwed up & put myself in the hospital for a week.
But my screw up turned out to be a life saver. Took my ex to Friendlies Saturday for dinner. Ordered mashed potatoes and clam chowder for myself. Had 2 tsp of tators and 2 tsp of chowder broth, then 1 tsp of her ice cream after dinner. Took rest home in doggie bag for food for the week. Everything was fine. Later that night went to eat chowder brother, or that was the idea anyways.. before I knew it, I had eaten the entire cup full...clams and all. Was fine to start... but as the night continued, my stomach started hurting. Just figured it was gas. By 3am, I was in so much pain.. I could barely stand, stomach felt like it was gonna blow. Woke the Miss's cause I could not make the set of stairs to Sir's room. She got him and he took me to the hospital. By time I got there, I was in tears.
Told the doc about the clam chowder... he just kinda looked at me. :P Yea, I ****** up. But he still needed to go in and make sure my stomach was ok. So, off to surgery I go. Turns out what was wrong was not caused by the chowder, in fact... the chowder saved my life. He told them that it had something to do with my blood flow and it causing the intestine attached to the stomach had died and this would have eventually happened whether I had chowder or liquid and could have died. All the chowder did was aggravate it enough to make it happen faster. Course he also said if I had waited another 5 minutes to come in, my stomach might have ruptured anyways form all the junk in it.
When I was finally cohesive enough to where the doc could talk to me, he explained it to me. Said while I did **** up and should not have eaten the chowder... it saved my life because they may not have known the intestine was dying till it was too late.
So.. lesson well learned and will be more sure to be careful... drain soups before eating. :P I'm glad I did it sort of.... just didn't like what I went through over the past week.
