So today I bought a bike - I know I have to change up my exercise on occasion so thought this would be a good thing to try- ughhhhhh I did like 10 minutes and it was KILLING me - got off and thought my legs had turned to rubber....... Just when I thought I was doing ok with the exercise things - thinking I was in decent shape - guess not - -lol alhtough my family tells me completely normal - biking uses different muscles - but man was I sore !! lol

Just thought I would share !!

good for you!!  I got myself a bike a few months ago and felt the same way :)  Are you going to bring it to the canal for our outing?

if it makes you feel any better, I huff and puff on the stationary bike.  one kind of fitness does not fully carry over to other activities.  That's why changing it up is sooooo good for you!

Congrats on buying a bike, I've been thinking about it for a while, but haven't done it yet.

Awesome, I had a very nice bike but my son borrowed it didn't chain it up so that's history. Cycling is a lot different from walking - heck treadmill to elliptical there is a big difference. Just think, not only are you keeping boredom at bay but your getting a whole new work out. Good job!!

I'm not a bike expert ...but I do know one MAJOR factor when purchasing a bike. The lighter the bike ...the better it is. And usually to find a light bike you usually need to go to an actual bike store and pay the extra money for a decent, light bike. The one I have is really light ..and I bought it at a sporting goods store for $350. Soooo...if it's not a light bike you will feel dead after a 10 minute ride. Even if you are in really good shape you can still feel the difference in your ride betweeen a heavy bike and a light one.  A lot of bike shops though will let you test the bikes too. Hope that helps.
