Hey everyone. I'm 4 months post op and so far very happy with the over 65 lbs weight loss. I have been running into issues with not having the right calcium (carbonate not citrate) and was wondering which ones you guys use. I am also looking for a better tasting multi too. I don't want my health to take a nose dive and I don't have a lot of money to buy all these things online. I would appreciate any and all help. Also need to up my protein to help with my hair falling out but haven't found a protein drink that I can stomach long term. Thanks again for your help.

The multi I buy flintstones complete and take two of those a day, you can get them ANYWHERE!!  The calcium I get from GNC, they are chewable cherry flavored wafers. As far as the protein goes....  when I host my first support group meeting in April, I plan on making a few protein shake recipes I have using different brands and flavors and having them for people to try when they come to the meeting.  We are always talking about protein on these forums so just keep your eye out, but also know that if you buy any protein powder from GNC and you dont like it, you can return it within 30 days of the purchase.  I hope this helps.

I love my Click protein drink. I buy it on amazon.com for around 17 bucks a container with free 2-day shipping since I became a member of amazon prime. Click is the best tasting protein drink I have tasted and I could not tolerate any other ones. However you must get the clearance from your doc that you're allowed caffine again as there is caffine in it. My doc is ok with some caffine, just not a ton. :)

I have to have Calcium citrate as my bypass means I won't absorb calcium carbonate as well. So I just found Calcet, it's a lemon chew... they are like little pillows of lemon heaven! I like the taste of them so much that I have been remembering to take my vitamins because of them!YAY! The down side here, they are not cheap. I would suggest you check the celebrate vitamin website and see if they are offering any specials as they are the company that makes the Calcet.

Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. I would take Dwindling Flower up on her offer and attend her get together, maybe you can taste test some of the things she will have?

I wish you the best!

 Hi..
for vitamins I take Flintstones with Iron..2 a day. I take 1500mg of Calcium Citrite as recommended by MGH where I had my surgery. I order the chewables on line from iBariatric ..the lemon and chocolate are great but I am sure GNC or the Vitamin shoppe has some chewables.

As for the protein drinks..I agree its hard to find a palatable one but I have been happy with Silk choc. milk with a scoop of unjury protein powder before I run out to water aerobics in the morning..

How much does your 2 doses of the sublingual B12 does that make? I have been taking one dose a day and nobody has said anything to me about doubling that one up. I am also taking 100 mcg of biotin to try and slow down the hair loss. Thanks for the help.

THANK YOU. It is my understanding that if you're taking Flintstones & calcium carbonate, as opposed to a bariatric specific vitamin & calcium CITRATE, you're going to have a lot of catching up to do later.

Meaning that your body will be so depleted of vitamins that it will take a lot of work to reverse the damage & get back to normal levels.
