Calcium Supplement Advice
Hey all -
What do you take for your calcium supplement? I have sent my husband out 4 times now and he keeps getting the wrong one! I know I want calcium citrate (1000-1500) with D (with ?800 IU), chewable. He just came home with chewable caramels from GNC - but they have sugar in them. I just couldn't deal with the big pills anymore! I left a message with the dietition, but no call back yet - so I figured I would ask you all.
Thanks!

Hi there. I use the Bariatric Advantage Calcium Citrate lozenges with vitamin D. They have several flavors and all I have tried are good (chocolate, mint, cherry). They also have chews as well and they are also great tasting. The only thing with the chews is that they are only 250mg each and they have a few calories in them so if you use these, you will go through more. the lozenges are 401mg each and I usually use 2 of these per day and then 2 chews to mix it up. Just an FYI, the chews are really awesome. the chocolate ones are like eating a bite of a brownie and the lemon ones are like a lemon starburst. I get mine in Dartmouth, MA at Faunce Corner Nutrition, but you can order then online as well at bariatricadvantage.com
Good luck

Chances are you won't find a citrate chewable in the stores, they are all carbonate which is what we aren't suppose to take.
Like the other person said ..Bariatric Advantage has them but they are expensive.
I've heard the pills will dissolve ...maybe you could try that if you don't like swallowing them.

I use a mix of the pills and the bariatric advantage chewables (love the chocolate) and lozenges (love the mint). They are expensive which is why I also use the calcium citrate pills for at least 1 dose per day.
I cut the pills in 1/2 when i was early out - easier to swallow, though now I can swallow 2 at a time.

I use Lifetime brand calcium/magnesium citrate liquid. It doesn't taste bad (orange flavor), goes down easily, and has the Mg as well. It doesn't have the vitamin D, but I take that as a capsule anyway. You can get it for the first time from Whole Foods; if you like it, it's way cheaper to order it from iHerb online.
