I'm back and finally approved
Hello!
I posted here last spring and was denied from Cigna in May for not having documentation showing my BMI of 35 or greater from 24 months ago. I was SO close to getting approved!
Dr. Muns office worked really hard, but Cigna would not budge.
After getting denied, I took a step back and just took a break from GBS. However in August, I decided I was ready to get the ball rolling again. I called dr. Muns office but he left the practice and moved back to California. I was then referred to Dr. Ali Travakkoli.
To make a looooog story short, they took my original paperwork from Dr Muns and just requested that I get a updated physical showing my current weight and have my pcp update the letter of recommendation. They kept asking me if I had any other documentation showing a history of weights. I told them in my file was paperwork from my OB showing my weights from the past 6 years. I wasn't feeling to good about getting approved at this point but I figured oh well, I know this is what is best for me and I will just keep trying to get approved.
1 week later the dr's office called me with my approval....Dec 3rd at Brigham and Womens!
I started this journey 2 years ago, just researching etc...and I can't believe it's really going to happen for me.

You've learned the first lesson - this journey never ends! Keep plugging away!
Congrats on approval - things will move fast for you from this point. Surgery will be here before you know it!
Best of luck!!
