protein shakes for break. and lunch with healthy supper is a good way to go... lots of surgeons/nuts recommend this pre-op. plus it's a good way to try out different protein shakes.
Easiest thing to try is carnation instant breakfast (no sugar added). I mix mine with skim milk. These can be found in most grocery stores in the cereal aisle. They usually have a multi-pack with vanilla/strawberry/chocolate. I only like the chocolate, so I just buy a box of chocolate. I prefer mine thinner, so I use two cups of milk and heat it so it's like hot chocolate. Others like it thick, so just one cup of milk.
You can also got to GNC and ask around for samples of the whey protein that they have. Don't buy huge amounts of any one thing until you know you like it. They have powders and ready made drinks available (GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, Vitamin World). You can also order samples online from www.Unjury.com (this is a well-liked brand of protein) and www.chikenutrition.com/, and www.vitalady.com . you can post on here for great recipe ideas... people mix their protein with peanut, banana, frozen fruits, etc.
