Kim..I am really glad too hear that...You"re on top of it! You never know all the facts with things on .these blogs...some people with a bmi of 41 can be desperate for surgery and some with a 70 reluctant. Just didnt want to be an advocate for this at such a young age uless it was really warranted..
In my own case my mother had me on every conceiveable fad diet all through my youth and I resented the hell out of her for it..( butt that point my problem was not nearly as severe as it became later..) Her heart was always with the quick fix solution. I probably just had a knee jerk reaction to your post. ! sorry!
Since your girl already has such other co morbidies and factors and really needs this...as is now obvious ...I will pray hard for you and a successful surgery and outcome...
I went to Brigham and Dr vernon did my surgery..she was great. But of course you know Brighams program anyway...Since they are sort of an experimental and teaching hospital I wonder if perhaps you should persue further in that hospital. Dr. Thompson, I believe, is the head of the bariatric services there so maybe a consult with him would be a way to go. I know he is doing trials on some new procedures right now...but I wonder if he wouldn't be able to give you the best advice on which procedure as well might be the one for a person your daughters age. Maybe there are some techniques in play that will help with the vitamin issues and such. At any rate , I think if you can manage to get an appointment with him he could be a good place to start...I bet he knows the who and what that can be done ..(if he will share that)
Good luck with this process and your daughter and her health...
