marginal ulcer?

I had my upper G.I. this morning at Emerson. I only had to drink half of the barium "shake". When I told the technician that I have problems withcold drinks, She made me a new solution with warm water. I was impressed and grateful.

The radiologist spoke with me after the procedure. She said that the test only sees gross ulcers and she could not see any. Dr. Shore said that this would be the first approach. She would scope me if there were inconclusive results. I am waiting to hear from her.

Hi Jayne,
So sorry to hear about this. I hope you find out what is going on. I have been working like crazy so haven't been able to keep in touch with everyone. I am still having alot of intolerances...and have been exausted lately. I am going to check in with my surgeon today.
Does it hurt when you eat too or just the water thing? I swear i would not be surprised if i found out i had something myself. Its all so frustrating isnt it?
TAke care and keep us posted,.
Best

Hi Jane,

Sorry to hear that the results were inconclusive.  It's tough playing the waiting game.  I'm still wondering what IS slippery if water isn't.

Ellie did well, maybe you got to see her?

Take care,
Julie

Deb,

i can tell right away if a food is not going to agree with me, so I stop and go onto something safe - like a protein shake  or some cheese. (I have been buying the little garlic and herb triangles and the bon belle cheeses that you brought to Sue's party.

The drinking thing is a huge problem because I know that I have to keep hydrated. I've switched to warmer liuids. I take pills at night with milk. I now heat the milk with a splash of vanilla, a little coffee syrup and some splenda. Warm is better.

My nutritionist allowed me to have one latte a day with skim milk - I hadn't had coffee since the end of January - it is heavenly!!!!

I have a call into the nurse to schedule my scoping. I just want this pain to go away.

My endoscopy is scheduled for September 2nd. Dr. Devarajan is an excellent gastroenterologist. I am lucky that he is doing this procedure.

I had my endoscopy yesterday. I have a marginal ulcer and am being treated with carafate and protonix. The doctor is going to scope me again in two months to see how things are going. I am so relieved to know what the problem is.
