X-POST Hypoglycemic followup post from earlier today
So I just checked my blood sugar again. I'm two hours post dinner and my level is 66. That is very low. I feel "okay", but I know that level should be higher. This is all new to me as I didn't have blood sugar problems post RNY. My blood sugar problems were pre RNY and they were on the other spectrum...too high.
Definitely keep close tabs on this and see if your surgeon can recommend an endocrinologist with RNY patients. Did Melting Mama have any further advice? she's got experience.

Hi Sue,
Oh I am keeping close tabs on it. My numbers are looking fine today. Hopefully yesterday was just a fluke thing. I'll be seeing my surgeon next week, so I'm sure we'll be talking about that.
Melting Mama sent me a few links regarding hypoglycemia. So I have some reading to do on the subject.

you're a smart cookie! I'm still having to track my fasting #s since I'm still on insulin and losing weight. I've officially cut my dosage in 1/2 in the last 6 months. I've had a few bouts of hypoglecimia due to having too much insulin in my system. It feels like HELL, i know. Can't wait to ditch the needles ASAP, or at the very least, check them at the door of the hospital for my RNY. :)

Thank you.
It's a pain having the check the numbers so often, but if that's what I got to do, then so be it. I certainly don't want to feel like I felt yesterday again. That really scared me. My husband said I was acting like a drunk, and he knew I wasn't.
I'm sure you'll be thrilled when you no longer have to give yourself insulin shots. I know I was. Got rid of those babies at the blink of an eye!

66 is pretty low Kendra. Did you have something at that meal that had a high glycemic index? Maybe you spiked and dropped?
I hope the readings are more in line now...
After reading Beth's blogs I get nervous about the potential for low sugars...
I hated that feeling before the surgery when I would drop because I took meds and didn't eat on time. I hated the lows more than the highs.
Good Luck!!
