I just didn't let myself think about it ..  I was so happy to be having surgery that I just would go about my day and try not to worry myself.. Yes I know it's hard not to think about it .. but I was calm right up till surgery. I just kept thinking of the results and how much better I would feel as the weight started to come off. Use these next few days to get yourself ready. Pack your bag, make sure you have all the foods you'll need for when you get home. Clean your house/apartment so you don't have to worry about that stuff at all.
I wish you all the best, And remeber it is all worth it. You'll do great!

Hi, I was excited to have the surgery...and we had 4th of July activities to keep me busy the days prior.   Riding down Rt9 to Brigham & Women's I did have some feelings of being scared and fright. I got over it when I saw my 8 year old daughter in the back seat.    I am doing this (did this) to make sure I stay alive for my kids!
Remember why you chose to have the surgery and keep your focus on them and it will be all right!
good luck and let us know how you well you do!

I think to some degree we all get nervous right before surgery.  For me I didn't sleep for 3 days prior to the surgery -- it showed when I wouldn't stay awake in recovery long enough for them to send me to my room.

Spend your time thinking about all the reasons you chose to have the WLS -- the results, the better life you will lead, the longer life you'll have.  You didn't make this choice overnight, you thought long and hard, considered the pros and cons and made your decision.  Take comfort in knowing that you will soon be sitting on the loser's bench with the rest of us.

Spend the next few days making sure you have everything set for when you return home.  Think positive and get ready for the most amazing ride of your life!  Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress!

I understand completely, I ddi the same thing, but as the time got closer I got calmer.  Just try to relax and believe it goes by fast after that.  Best of luck
