Sleep Study

I was wondering do all WLS centers do a sleep test??  I am going to do NWH WLP, but I don't have sleep apnea.  And will they make me take the test??

Forgot to add, that I have problems falling asleep do to anxiety.  And take trazadone to make me fall asleep.  And I only snore when I take trazadone.  If I don't take it, then I don't snore.

If you have had one and have the results then she may not book one for you .. but I think if it's more than a year old then she'll have them book you one.  i'm pretty sure they require taking one.. I had one and it came back that I didnt have apnea.

Like Kelly said, if you have the report, send it to them, otherwise they may make you take one.  You can have the sleep study done in Leominster so it's not such a hike.  I was against the sleep study, but it was required, so I had it done.  I ended up having sleep apnea and I never would have known if I didn't have this surgery done. Can they do it on say a Friday night??  Or does it have to be during the week??

They do it all nights unfortunately the weekends fill up the fastest but you can always try.   Gwen

I had mine done on a Friday night at Leominster.

Well I called them, and they are all booked on Friday nights until Jan. 08.  But I found out they also do the study in Haverhill.  So I can do it up here on a weekday, and just head to work from there.

I have to say just because you don't snor doesn't mean you don't have sleep apnea. There are lots of symptoms of sleep apnea, snoring is only one of them. The only way to know you don't have it is to do the sleep study. I'd rather be safe than sorry. They test obese people wanting surgery for a reason. Some people only have mild sleep apnea and don't even know it or think it. They go the sleep study and find out they have it. I know I will definately be doing the sleep study when they order it.
