Why????

Why is it that everyone I know that I have told about having WLS is trying to get me to eat everything that as they put it "you will NEVER be able to eat again".  I am not having the desire to eat the fats and sweets as I had horrible gallbladder issues at the beginning of the summer and stopped eating them as a result, so now the cravings are gone.  Why is it that others want me to eat "lasts meals"  more than I actually care to?

I went through a similiar problem myself. I'm not sure why they do it but I know that if you don't want it or isn't not on your food plan, don't do it. Yes, the Last supper syndrome does occur but usually not this early in the process. For me it was the week before my surgery when I knew it was going to happen.  Maybe don't want you to feel deprived of these things. I know it's frustrating. Just wait until those same people watch what you eat. That is even more annoying.  See you tonight! Hope

I am sure that will be frustrating!  I actually couldn't get to the meeting tonight so I went this afternoon!  I hope that I will see you at the next meeting! Shana

Shana, Aren't these the same people who when they knew you were on a diet, tried to get you to 'just have one'?  Sabateurs, the whole lot of them, possessed by the Devil himself to side-track us!  No, they're not really possessed, but they just plain & simple haven't got a clue about what you are going through.  My Dad has at least stopped saying "Is that all you're going to eat?" Now, when he sees me with a big bowl of salad, he says, with a smile, "I bet you can't eat all of that!" So it does get better, at least with the people *****ally care about us; the rest of them, well, you have to let them roll off your back, down into the sewer with the other rats - or at least picture it that way,  if it helps you laugh them off.  You're doing something positive for yourself, your health and your future  - that is un-nerving to people who are used to the old versions of us.  They'll get over it or they weren't worth having around anyway. Have a few of them read this.  Let them be mad at me, no problem. Stick with your program, it's obvious that God is on your side - He has already removed some cravings, He will remove the rest as He guides you to the new YOU. Surround yourself with positive people and you will be fine. God Bless, Laurie
