Can anyone tell me if Medicaid will cover RNY and everything that goes with it in Mass?

I don't know if medicaid is like masshealth or something else,But I do know Masshealth is a state funded health insurance and they cover everything if it is medically nes.

That would be great. I used to live in Springfield, 11 years go. Had Masshealth then. I'm thinking about moving back. If it did cover it, then that would make a major part in my decision.

Hi.  I have masshealth and I am having pre-op testing tomorrow.  I should have a surgery date within the next 2 weeks.   If you have a medical need then masshealth will cover it.  Good luck with your move.

Thanks hun. I'm still not completely decided yet...but real close. I'm about 95% sure about moving...still have a few things to check and consider though. Also, my dads nurse says Georgia will pay for it and is doing what she can to get me in soon. So, we'll see. Good luck to ya and have a safe, happy operation.

Because of  the new state law effective July1, Masshealth has a premium now. Just FYI. Also be careful about having surgery in another state and then moving You may have problems with aftercare. I've read on the other message boards about doctors now wanting to treat a baratic patient that wasn't their own.

Premium....as in a copay type thing?? Hopefully if it's true, it won't be too high. Oh, no worries....there's no way i'd attempt to have a surgery of such magnatude and then try to move that kind of a distance. I'll wait till after I get up there and find a good doctor willing to take Masshealth. I'm hoping to leave here around the 1st of November.

Yup, a monthly copay. My hubby is disability and medicare and still has to pay about $185 per month for Mass health. It all depends on what plan you qualify for.  Here's the website to get quotes if you would like: http://www.mahealthconnector.org/portal/site/connector/
